Castello di Rocca Cilento

The first written documents of the Rocca Cilento Castle date back to 1119, when we talk about the fortified walls of the Sanseverino castle and, subsequently, from 1185 when we talk about Rocca as a castrum , or a fortified residential settlement.

The Castle of Rocca ran the risk of being demolished because the poor conditions of the building endangered the surrounding houses and those who passed through the street. The foresight of the Sgueglia family, already owner of the Limatola Castle in the Benevento area, meant that they invested in the purchase and therefore in the renovation of the Castle. Once the works are finished, the Rocca Castle will be the venue for princely weddings, receptions but also spas and hotel rooms.
