Big shout out

First of all, big shout out to the greatest Mam on the planet (my Mam) who has started following me on ogham-stone.com... "D'ya want some?!! D'ya want some?!!!!" You can keep track of my shenanigans in real time now mam.. you don't need to hear from others a week later that I somehow managed to find myself in hospital again with another broken bone... this time you'll find out almost in real time :)

What do you need

  1. Packed Lunch
  2. Plenty of water
  3. Sun cream

How do I get there

Make your way to Adlershof S-Bahn station. You can bring your bike with you on the S-Bahn but you need to buy a separate ticket. From there, the start of the Berlin Wall part 3 route is very close. If you click Berlin Wall part 3, when the bubble pops up, in the header, just click the arrow. This will load the start of the route up in google maps and will help you navigate there.

What's the route like?

The route is pretty nice. It's mostly well tarmacked cycle paths. The route is mostly wide also. If you ever find yourself in another pandemic, apart from 1 small section of the route, you can be sure you'll be able to keep well apart from others. Let's hope this is the pandemic in our lifetimes though.

The first part of the route will bring you through Green Zone Neukölln Treptow. This is a really nice narrow green area where you'll pass through some marshy ground. On our trip, we spotted what can only be described as Dodo birds. I'm sure they were not actual Dodo's considering I can hardly tell apart a turkey from a chicken, but they looked like Dodo birds.

Make sure you check out the hidden tree house in those white skinny trees (Birch trees) on your way out.

Once you start to traverse between the border of Brandenburg and Berlin, you'll cycle through a woody area. This part of the trail for maybe 2km is not paved and you are cycling on hard dirt so take care.

Once you make a right out of the forest, you'll encounter big open fields to your left. That's Brandenburg. Nice. Flat. Open. Fields.

You'll stay pretty much on a tarmac cycle path for the next 10k or so. The only place where it gets congested (at least when I cycled the route) is when you encounter a large row of cherry blossom trees.

Eventually, you'll find yourself back on the side street cycle paths of Berlin and taking a left by the teltew canal. You are almost at the finishing line. After a long bend in the canal you'll find yourself at your destination.

How do I get home?

You'll end up very close to the Zehlendorf Sban station. I recommend stopping off for a coffee in Zehlendorf before you make the way back.
